Hello Junior High Contestants and Parents,

We, as the AHSRA Board of Directors, would like to congratulate you on a great year of fierce competition and great friendships.

As we move into your Junior High State Finals there are a few items we would like to brief you on.

  1. News and Information
    • www.AHSRA.com :  subscribe to newsletter on News Page for updates
    • AHSRA website:  add Google calendar on Events page for deadlines and schedule
    • Remind App:   send text to:  81010   with this as the message:   @hdk297           There is a lot of information shared on this app.
  2. This is 3 go-rounds with an average.  
    • 2 Full go rounds will run on Friday, May 10th (One in the morning and one in the afternoon)
    • Final go round will run on Saturday morning, May 11th  
    • There is not a payout at Finals, however, there are buckles for event winners of Finals.
    • You must compete in all 3 rounds.
    • If you competed for points in one event and jackpot the other, you must choose one for Finals. You cannot compete in both. (Example: Roping Boys Breakaway for points to qualify for Nationals, roping in the Jr Calf Roping as a jackpot during the regular season. You need to choose which one you are competing for points in and only enter that event at Finals)
  3. Awards will be Saturday evening.
    • Awards are given up to Top 10 in each event for the rodeo season, providing that you compete in all 3 Rounds at Finals
    • Dinner is available (More details to follow)
  4. Sponsor patches on your shirts.

    • If any of your sponsor are in the same industry as one of the National sponsors you will be asked to cover them up.    Example – You are sponsored by Justin Boots, but Ariat is the National sponsor, you will be asked to cover up the Justin Boots patch.
  5. Top 4 in any events, you will receive a packet and the following will be expected of you on Saturday immediately following awards:
    • Completed Housing (Camping) Form and payment – Only as a guideline last year was $325 for the week.   Packets are still being compiled for this year, so it is subject to change.
    • Stall Reservation Fee and payment – Only as a guideline last year was a range of $159 for qualified event horse(s) to $245 for extra stalls.
    • Jacket form and payment for add-ons, including but not limited to: name embroidery, event rockers, back number, etc.
    • Go on National Website to complete Bio for events, news, information, draws.   Watch for emails from Nationals.
  6. Silver State International Rodeo
    • If you are 5th through 15th.   There will be more information about this opportunity to showcase your talents coming.
    • You can even compete in an event that you did not compete in at your State.
  7. All Dodge Raffle Tickets
    •  ALL Tickets (sold or not) and Money are due to Julie Andersen at CHECK-IN at Sonoita.                           NO EXCEPTIONS!

This is not all of the information you will need, but it is a good baseline to get you started and prepared for the rest of this incredible journey.
